Since launching in March 2008, Light Industry has brought you over 100 events—screenings, lectures, discussions, live performances—first at Industry City in Sunset Park and more recently at our new space, a 5,000-square-foot storefront in downtown Brooklyn. In addition to our weekly shows, we’ve also presented a five-day run of Wang Bing’s 14-hour documentary Crude Oil, participated in Performa 09, and set up shop at Tate Modern, London as part of No Soul for Sale.
Now, following on the success of last year's summer fundraiser, we're launching our second annual campaign, aiming to raise $12,000 over the month of August. Additional resources will allow us to reach our goals of expanding our modest operating budget, supporting more travel for out-of-town guests, increasing our fees for artists and curators, and establishing a new publication series.
Our project is made possible through the support, financial and otherwise, of our dedicated audiences, and we proudly run Light Industry on a lean, no-nonsense budget, which means that donations of any size can make a considerable impact.
All contributions are tax-deductible, and anyone who gives $100 or more will receive a very special perk: free admission to all Light Industry events for a year!
